Dose :
One to two capsules every day   (at bedtime).   Oral administration .

Composition:
Rhamus purshiana
Senna angustifolia

Active Ingredient:
Senosides   A, B and C

Therapeutic Indication :
The Ministry of Health in Costa Rica has approved the following therapeutic indications for STRENOLAX ® : "Treatment of constipation ". 

Mechanism of action:
Inhibition of the absorption of water and electrolites from the large intestine.   It imitates the motility of the colon and produces propulsive contractions. The secretion of electrolites is mediated by the stimulation of PGE2 formation .

Adverse Effects:
In rare cases gastrointestinal cramps.
Prolonged use produces loss of electrolytes

Contraindications:
Do not use in children under 6 years.
Do not use in the presence of symptoms of apendicitis or intestinal obstruction.
Chronic use.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation :
Not known restrictions

Interactions:
Non steroidal anti inflammatory agents because they reduce the effect of   Streno-lax (by reduction of the presence of PGE 2 )
Digitalics
Anti arrhythmic drugs
