Tanacetum parthenium

Active ingredients:
Sesquiterpenic lactones (partenolides).

Anti migraine, anti inflammatory and analgesic.

Mechanism of action
Sesquiterpenic lactones, mainly phartenolid, are the active compounds of HERBANOL. The action is based on three mechanisms: an anti-inflammatory action, inhibition of platelet aggregation and inhibition of serotonine release from the platelets.
There is a dose-dependent inhibition of the biosynthesis of prostaglandin, thromboxanes and leukotriens (collectively called eicosanoids, which are potent mediators of the inflammation process). Anti inflammatory properties are also due to the inhibition of phospholipases and this prevents the release of arachidonic acid. Phartenolid and crysantenile acetate have demonstrated inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis

Adverse effects
Some rare cases of ulcers in the mouth.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the components.
Do not use during pregnancy and lactation

Interactions
Precaution should be given to thrombolysis agents, anti coagulant agents, and anti platelet aggregation agents
