Ginkgo biloba is a tree from Asia and has been used in Chinese traditional medicine for many thousand years, this product is made in Costa Rica. Some reported uses are: problems of attention, vertigo, tinnitus aurium, varices, headache and high blood pressure.
It is recommended to discontinue the use of Ginkgo biloba 15 day before any major surgery because it has an anticlotting activity.
Dose:
Two to three capsules per day. Oral administration

Coadyuvant in problems associated to the loss in recent memory and it helps to improve concentration.
Mechanism of action
The product has a group of pharmacological properties that favor an increase in tisular irrigation in the brain and this is due to the presence of certain regulating effect on arteries, veins and capillaries and causing a higher blood flow. This is possible as consequence of an increase in distal or cephalic perfusion. Besides, it produces metabolic changes and prevents the injury of membranes caused by free radicals.
Ginkgolides are terpenoid molecules which are potent inhibitors of the platelet activator factor (PAK) which is an important sep in the induction of platelet aggregation.
Adverse effects
No adverse effects have been reported. Discontinue treatment 15 days prior to any surgery.
Contraindications
Patients with active bleeding or with haemosthatic alterations, patients taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents or anticlotting drugs..
Do not use during pregnancy or lactation.
Interactions
Anticlotting drugs
Aspirin and its combinations. Also nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents
Antiplatelets because of the risk of digestive bleeding IMAOS.
